The North Face

It was in 1966 on the beach in San Francisco that it all began, when two climbers passionate about the outdoors decided to create a climbing and mountaineering supply store, which became known as “The North Face”.

Shortly thereafter, in 1968, The North Face began designing and manufacturing our own high-performance mountaineering and climbing apparel and accessories.

During the 1960s, the brand became popular with professional athletes and went on to sponsor expeditions to some of the most challenging and often still untouched places in the world. This launched a strong tradition that lives on today and continues to reinforce what has become The North Face's mantra: Never Stop Exploring™.

In the early 1980s, The North Face became the sole supplier of a comprehensive collection of high performance apparel, ski and snowboard apparel, sleeping bags and tents in the United States.

In the 1990s, the clothing, accessories and equipment lines continued to grow and gained special collections, which combine comfort and technology with the most diverse adventures. More and more athletes from different disciplines started using The North Face and we created an exclusive line of footwear.
